The first thing that I noticed about The Coffee Press was its atmosphere. We arrived at midday to a small, sparse and simple motif, which felt immediately like the perfect spot to rest and relax in. As I soon learned, the atmosphere wasn't the only thing The Coffee Press had going for it.
The quaint little café instantly established itself as a place the whole family could enjoy thanks to the crayons and colouring books available for entertainment. While I didn't give them a go, children could use them to avoid boredom, while parents avoid the headache of hearing 'is it ready yet?' every other minute!
Unfortunately, problems presented themselves when it came to the menu. Offerings of full English breakfasts and omelettes were present in text, but we were soon informed by the waiter that they weren't actually available.

In the end, I ordered a ham and cheese toastie, while my girlfriend asked for the cheese and tomato variant. The meal did not take long to arrive, and once it did, the bread was toasted to perfection, and there was just the right amount of fillings. The real highlight for my girlfriend and I, however, was the milkshake. It was a treat for the taste buds! If you choose to go to The Coffee Press, I'd put their vanilla milkshake at the top of your 'to buy' list.
It's important to note that there were vegan and gluten-free meal options too, but where The Coffee Press' food let itself down was in the desserts. By our waiter's own admission, the brownies that we ordered were barely not frozen, leaving them rock hard and difficult to eat. The dessert itself was nice enough, but it wasn't worth the battle you'll be putting your teeth through.
All in all, from me, The Coffee Press gets a cautious recommendation. The staff were kind and attentive, and the food that was available, besides our brownie, was very nice, but the menu's failure to represent what was actually for sale, as well as the bad taste the dessert left in my mouth, takes it down a peg.
